I will survive. I will survive. I will survive. In order to survive we must eat. Are we eating every day? Sure, were are! Everyone eats every day. But, are you eating
right? There are two kinds of food that
you need to keep in mind: the food of the spirit and the food of the
flesh. People love to eat healthy
food. It makes them happy because it
gives them peace of mind knowing they are treating their body right. Those good feelings and emotions you can move
on, day to day. The food for our soul
and our faith means to walk not by sight, but by faith. Living this way will also make us happy
because it will give us peace of mind to know we are treating our spirit
right.
The word, is from
God and he is the one to direct us, and our path. In 2 Timothy 1:7 we are told the following: “For
God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a
sound mind.” What are you going to do
with this? Take it in! This is great food for the spirit! In Proverbs 9:10 we are told “The fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” What does this mean to you? How understanding
are you and how often do you feed on it?
Fear does not exist when you live by the truth. If you know the truth, the truth will set you
free. Free and free indeed. Every day we must work to keep fear
away. Respect and know God. If you don’t
have his love, you have nothing. The
holy spirit of the Lord will give you the ability to live for the spirit, so
that you can forgive one another and love one another; not like you are higher than that one person, but as a
love for everyone, and not as if you are better
than that person, but out of concern for everyone.
When you eat spiritual food, you learn obedience to the Lord
because you live it. In Psalm 10:3-7, the
word says “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon
them that fear him and his righteousness unto children’s children.” This means you live by example and you pass
it down to your sons and daughters who will benefit from it. The mercy is everlasting from generation to
generation – no end. That fear is not
the fear of punishment; it is the fear of obedience. Fearing not by fear, but by respect and
knowledge based on who their Father is.
Live with this fear and in hope, to honor that we are the children of
God. Live as a child of light, not
darkness, so that others can look to your good example. Remember that in Mathew 6:33 we are told “But
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall
be added unto you.” Psalm 86:11: “Teach me thy way, O Lord, I will walk in thy
truth, unite my heart to fear thy name.” Well, here you are today, reading scripture at
the Spiritual Rescue Mission. You have
already taken that step in seeking the kingdom of God and you will find it
through the word. Be born again. Be born
again. Be born again in the spirit
through Christ, Jesus.
If you want to be going out and partying regularly, and taking breaks
from the kids, it creates a long suffering situation because you know it is
against the will of God. You know what
is right, even if you have an understanding of it. If you still do it - that is what creates the
long suffering situation because you are doing something against what you believe in.
The scripture in Galations 5:16-23 reads “16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the
lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit
against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other so that ye
cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led to the Spirit, ye are
not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance,
emulations, wrath, strife, seditions , heresies 21 Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of which I tell you before, as I have
also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there
is no law.
Your Spiritual food diet.
The first thing we all must do is change to a healthy diet,
the fruit of the holy spirit. You can
eat this fruit in abundance without fear.
If you don’t eat meat, great! But what
are you going to put into your spirit? In the same light you cannot come to God
and say you want to eat the fruit of the holy spirit but not come clean. Do not fear coming clean. If you take the same medicine over and over
for your headache there will come a time when that medicine will not heal it
because you’ve become immune to it. You
will need stronger medicine to kill that headache. Do you want to heal yourself
later or now? NOW! Exactly! That’s what
the word of God is to you. It will change you now. Today. This very moment.
You are making a decision, here. You can worry about your appetite and diet.
Some people exercise but don’t eat right. It is the same in the Christian
life. You must be right and you must
make the choice to do it right but not by fearing God as in “being afraid,”
rather fearing God under the fear of the power he holds to guide you to a path
of respectfulness. Meditate day and
night. Have no doubt. Make a 100% turn. Become a child of God. You will be blessed with insight, from experiencing firsthand what I am talking about.
John 15:10 reads: If
ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my
Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. Ephesians 1:17-19 “That the God
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your
understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his
calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19
And what is the exceeding greatness
of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of this might
power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set
him at his own right hand in the
heavenly places.”
Of course, most of us already believe a healthy diet can
improve our health. In the same light the word of God can improve your
life. Only the food of the spirit can
open your eyes and help you see beyond the physical world we live in. This is not a fad diet - something you do
only for convenience because if you do, what happens? You go back.
You regress. You stumble and
fall. If you want to stumble and fall –
that’s a choice too. Commit to your
spiritual diet and you will reap the rewards of your choice. This does not mean that life will become so
easy, it will be a dream (you are still here); it means you will become
empowered to make better choices in your life, you will be guided in your path
because you will be open to it, and you will be content with your decisions and
satisfied with where they take you.
There is an abundance of spiritual food in the bible. Feast on it!
